Is Our Society in a Landslide?

Looking at the current events that are extrapolating so fast and the way the main-stream media is exposing it shows how we, as a society, are heading in a wrong path. Watching the people in government side with the principles that don’t give liberty to the public but rather slavery, depicts the erroneous direction we are in.
The founding fathers of The United States of America understood the fact that liberty is not having the right of doing what you want to do, but what you ought to do. That is clearly what liberty is all about, but when people are ordained with the right to do what they want to do, their actions will lead to preposterous behavior. Then that behavior will in return lead to chaos in the society, resulting in a moral degrade which we are currently tracking.
Charles Colson, in his book “Gideon’s Torch,” talks about theses issues, but he brings up a very interesting point. He states that there are only two restraints on human behavior. The first and the most essential one is the inner restraint. This inner restraint comes from your deep heart, which is your conscience, and moral. The other one is the outer restraint which implies physical means like the police. When the restraints of conscience break down, then there is chaos and physical forces must be applied. Colson shows that if the inner restraints are not there, then the only way to censor the behavioral issues is through government intrusion which gives the public less freedom.
The analogy made by Colson vividly explains why it is crucial to have a strong moral society. It depicts the fact that if society will have inner restraints, then the outer restraints will not have as big of a demand. If the government takes actions to mortify the morals of the nation, as it currently is, then they are removing the inner restraints. This stimulates the necessity to apply much greater efforts and forces to maintain a civil society. Thus it shows that we as a society need to take action and build our moral standards and not break them down. This act will give us true liberty.

  2. Not only does it lead to chaos, it's all directed into hell. But we have to remember that the corruption of this world, as it slowly degrades more and more into sin, is how God put it. He allows all this to happen for a reason. As believers, we need to make sure we have the correct view on the world, not have a rebellious attitude, but instead see God's hand through it all and praise Him.
